I found a multi-part FTP client for Linux awhile ago but forgot to update the site to share the information. So, if you have been looking for a Linux equivalent to something like CuteFTP, look no further.
lftp is what you are looking for. Downside (or upside depending on how you look at it) is that it is purely command line, has no queueing functionality, etc.

Looks like ftpcube has a gui and multi-threaded. http://ftpcube.sourceforge.net/
